La Grola |
 |
|
La Grola, located in the township of Sant'Ambrogio, is an estate that has a different quality, not only with respect to Allegrini's other vineyards, but throughout the entire Valpolicella Classica area. It is a hill that dominates the entire Valpolicella (310 m a.s.l.), occupying an overall area of 24.26 hectares.
The many aspects that contribute to making La Grola such a prized and particular vineyard are the terrain of volcanic and alluvial origin, which is calcareous and dry, its exposure to the sun, fine aeration, the positive influence of Lake Garda to the west and north, with Mt. Baldo (Verona's highest mountain), which protects the area from the cold winds of northern Europe.
All of this has created a truly ideal microclimate for the combination of Corvina and Rondinella grapes.
The Guyot bilateral type of planting is used here, which is particularly suitable in the presence of vegetative balance, for the production of red grapes earmarked for the production of great wines, but not for drying.
This is the company's most innovative vineyard, just as the wine produced here is considered to identify the Allegrini philosophy.
